Write For Kindness

Write for Kindness is a national creative-writing competition organised by the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) and supported by the All In! Young Writers Festival. It is a platform for primary, secondary, junior college, centralised institute and international school students to promote kindness to the younger audience by creating age-appropriate and culturally relevant children’s stories, through short stories, poetry and illustrations.

Kindness is in everyone. The Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) wants to encourage everyone to start, show and share kindness. We aspire to inspire graciousness one kind act at a time. By sparing a thought for the people around us, we hope to create a gracious society, and make life better for you and me. SKM is a non-government, non-profit organisation, as well as a registered charity and Institution of Public Character.

Puttnam School of Film and Animation

LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore is a leading tertiary institution in cutting edge contemporary arts and design education and practice. Mediacorp

Singapore Repertory Theatre

Founded in 1993, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is one of the leading English language theatre producers and presenters in Asia.  In addition to its repertoire of original musicals like Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress, the company has produced a number of critically acclaimed plays that include ART, The Pillowman and Disgraced. SRT is also one of the biggest producers of children’s theatre in Southeast Asia with shows like Pinocchio, The Ugly Duckling and The Three Little Pigs.

Barterli

Barterli is a social app for users to buy, sell and swap their books for free or at the fraction of retail price. It has created a new community for all book lovers in Singapore. Barterli is easy to use. You can upload your books by scanning the ISBN code at the back of your book and all book’s synopsis will be uploaded instantly. Barterli is available to download for free on both iOS and the Android Store.

Super Cool Books

SUPER COOL BOOKS is an award-winning publishing studio in Singapore that produces thrilling fiction inspired by Asian legends and pop culture. It was started by writer Don Bosco in 2011. It is also home to the 100 WRITERS story writing support group, which is co-hosted by StoryCode Singapore. Following popular demand, the Super Cool Books in-house story development guide IMAGINE ALL THIS: HOW TO WRITE YOUR OWN STORIES has been made available in paperback from Marshall Cavendish.

The Hidden Good

The Hidden Good is a community platform that uncovers the good in people and the world around them. With a strong focus on social goals, guerrilla activity and youth activation, The Hidden Good creates experiences that celebrate possibility and build a culture of positivity which are then turned into engaging videos that are shared online with the purpose of sparking conversations and inspiring action. The launch of their newest online publication, The Good Catalogue, also hopes to spread the good through a new medium of the written word.

Pulp Toast / Roti Bakar

Pulp Toast / Roti Bakar is an annual, independent zine set on promoting emerging writers and “snackable” genre fiction. Started by independent writers from both Singapore and Malaysia, we wanted a platform for writers to tell stories they want to tell, in the genres they want to tell it in. And we wanted a platform for our readers to appreciate intriguing (and at times, action-packed and silly) stories on-the-go. As such, Pulp Toast, or Roti Bakar, came out of the oven.

ATOM

Atom (A Touch of Moonlight) is a poetry group consisting of a diverse range of young writers under the mentorship of poet and Sing Lit Station founder Joshua Ip. They have been published in several notable journals, poetry collections and anthologies, and have read and performed at events like the Destination: Ink and Singapore Writers Festival 2017.

Singapore Creations

Singapore Creations Etc. is a non-profit arts organisation for young people from all walks of life. Using the creative arts as the primary tool of empowerment and transformation, SG Creations provides a free professional platform for young people (6 to 20 years) to voice their hopes, concerns, fears and dreams through original artistic projects for the stage, video or music recordings.

Shattuck-St Mary's School, Forest City

Singapore International Film Festival

Founded in 1987, the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore. It has become an iconic event in the local arts calendar that is widely attended by international film critics, and known for its dynamic programming and focus on ground-breaking Asian cinema. Committed to nurturing and championing local talent, the Festival launched the Youth Jury & Critics Programme in 2014, a workshop that aims to nurture and guide a generation of young writers on cinema from the region.

Republic Polytechnic

Innova Junior College

Launched in the 10th year of Innova Junior College’s journey, Innova Press is a milestone for the college. The Press is the school’s first ever student-led publication channel and it strives to be the sonorous voice of the community. Covering college events, community and social issues, and featuring reviews on plays and books, the bi-annual publication also showcases photography and artwork by the Press’ own students and teachers. With an eager spirit and a confident voice, the students of Innova Press embody ethical, truthful, and passionate reporting. Their articles are a testament of how the voice of youths, when wielded responsibly, can speak truth to a community. 

Victoria Junior College

Victoria Junior College is a premier pre-university institution in Singapore. It has a strong tradition in the humanities and the arts, and has produced some of Singapore's most well-known filmmakers and actors, including Tan Pin Pin, Joanne Peh and Michelle Chong. The student groups that has contributed to All In! are, Writers' Circle which aims to foster a love for writing through events and weekly meetings and The Victorian Press, a journalism society that covers school events and school culture.

Unseen Mag

Launched in 2015, Unseen is a non-profit, by students for students, literary magazine for students and teachers of the A Level ‘Literature in English’ paper. Unseen accepts and publishes pieces by current students, teachers, writers and alumni, using the A Level set texts as a foundation. These pieces range from essays, to works of fiction, poetry and even criticism on theatrical works. Three issues have been released online, with a hard-copy book in the works.

Asian Geographic

What's Up

What’s Up is a monthly newspaper for students that covers world affairs, business, science, the arts, sports, and entertainment. Many What’s Up stories grapple with serious issues. However, it explains these complicated topics as simply as possible, and make them interesting to kids. What's Up believes that all children should know what is happening but, at the same time, they deserve to feel that this world is still a great place to grow up in.

The Ridge

As the pulse of the NUS community, NUSSU The Ridge Magazine is the largest student-run publication in NUS! The Ridge Magazine is run by The Ridge, a committee of the National University of Singapore Students’ Union (NUSSU). The Ridge is active all-year round online, and publishes once every semester, with 8,000 copies circulated throughout the Kent Ridge and Bukit Timah Campuses.

National University of Singapore

The NUS English Language and Literature (ELL) has been around since 1928. Housing three undergraduate majors and three graduate programmes, the English Language programme engages in the formal study of the structures of language and qualitative study of language in its social context. In Literature, it offers a range of coverage and approaches, emphasising capacities that students develop rather than the knowledge they must possess. NUS Literary Society

The NUS Literary Society has a long tradition that both supports and extends the work of the Department of English Language and Literature among students in Singapore. While its core members are university undergraduates, its aims have always been to share the powerful experience of literary culture with a wider audience of young readers and aspiring writers. NTU English and Drama Society | EPIPHANY

NTU Epiphany's Publications Team collaborated last year with All-In! Young Writers Festival to bring students as performing poets and participants as part of their involvement as a fringe event. On the regular, Publications holds events such as open mics, writers' workshops and participates in NTU's yearly LitFest, an event that engages the NTU community with the joys of literature and creative writing. NTU Epiphany has worked with the NTU Creative Writing Division, and writers such as Pooja Nansi & Boey Kim Cheng. Currently, NTU Epiphany consists of two divisions, the Theatre and Publications Wings, and hopes to continue broadening their ties to the literary community both within and outside of NTU.

Symbal Magazine

Symball is an online publication by the NUS Literary Society that wishes to inspire and nurture. It aims to be a platform to showcase the works of young writers across Singapore and celebrate the diversity of local literary talent, while facilitating their development through meetings, workshops and competitions.”
